On 6 April 2025 the UK's new consumer protection regime came into force. The changes, introduced under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, include a new direct enforcement regime for the CMA as well as a number of changes to the substantive law, aimed at improving and modernising consumer rights in order to ensure they keep pace with market developments, in particular the trend towards online retail and advertising.
